This week we moved onto Avonte Garde Make Up. Avonte Garde ranges from the bizarre to the beautiful and each make-up artist usually has their own twist so it’s always interesting to see what look they will create. The look is more likely to be seen on the runway or pages of a fashion magazine. There is an element of fantasy that surrounds these looks – the eye & lips are cleverly placed with contours and highlights while the addition of facial ‘accessories’ take the ordinary to the extra ordinary bringing the make up to life using stick-ons to create big, bold, and beautiful looks. As always we maintain a record of our work by completing a face chart and step by step process.
We also completed a Fairy/Fantasy look. This look draws on the creative to use nature such as butterflies, flowers and leaves for inspiration partnering with colours such as green, brown, orange & blue…not to mention a bit of glitter to provide that magical element. This is our opportunity to really turn a face into a work of art!
Unfortunately, there won’t be too much time for relaxation over the Spring holidays with several assessment items scheduled to be completed over the 2 week break including a Script Break Down! We received a script from the trainer which we start by reading and then writing a synopsis (brief overview). We then design and interpret the character which includes Make-up/special effects, Hair/Wigs, Costumes, and any props the character may have. It’s quite a fun exercise and can really bring out the creative side!
Half way through my diploma and our break couldn’t have come at a better time – see you in two weeks!
