Wow! What a week – we stepped it up a notch (or two) and completed a Big, Bright, and Bold fashion look (statement).
The fashion look is all about clean lines, bold colours, no blending, the dramatic, etc. We learned basic, and advanced smoky eye techniques, and used clean lines to create perennially chic cat-eyes. It was so awesome researching current trends and applying the techniques to provide that edgy look required for fashion.
Tuesday we moved our focus to creating bridal looks. I’ve seen a few of my friends get married and I never knew just how many considerations a great make-up artist should be across. When possible working closely with the hair stylist and the photographer, the make-up artist needs to be prepared for varying weather conditions, lighting, time of day, and ambiance (or theme) of the wedding. Also, having a good understanding of how the photographer works will only enhance the results.
Make-up is for all ages and understanding our client’s needs helps us to adapt tailored solutions. On Wednesday we learned how to apply make-up to a mature person which made me realise just how adaptable we need to be and ensure that we meet each client’s specific requirements.
Finally, we have been powering through all our different looks for the case studies that need to be completed by the end of term – no rest for the wicked!!
