Learning to prevent infection is a skill that is becoming essential. Particularly the measures to prevent the virus NOVEL COVID-19 for any customer-facing worker or volunteer.
This nationally recognised unit addresses the skills and knowledge needed to follow organisational infection prevention and control procedures. This includes using standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to the infection risks. This unit is part of the Health training package. The two skill sets we offer; retail and food handling have been recommended as priority industries by the Australian Industry Skills Authority due to The customer-facing duties required in these jobs. Any customer-facing worker or volunteer can study this unit.

Self-Paced Online Delivery

In this unit, you will cover and be expected to perform

  • How to follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control
  • How to identify infection hazards and assess risks
  • Follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific hazards
  • Hand hygiene and care of hands
  • Use of personal protective equipment
  • Handling of waste
  • Enforcing clean and contaminated zone
  • Limiting contamination
  • Surface cleaning

These skills will be demonstrated and assessed in the workplace and online.

Course duration is 12 Weeks.

The course tuition costs are $359.00. The entire amount must be paid at enrolment and can be paid by Zip Pay, Afterpay, Credit Card, Eftpos or Cash. This secures a place in the course and pays for:

  • Online Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Online Learning Resources including PowerPoint, Learner Guide and Workbook
  • Access to support sessions with a trainer

On completion of this unit, you will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the unit HLTINFCOV001 Comply with Infection Prevention Policies and Procedures. Skill-Set Retail (HLTSS00065) or Skill-Set Food Handling (HLTSS00066)

There are no prerequisites for this course*. Intermediate level computer skills and access to the internet is essential. You will also need access to industry-standard equipment relevant to either the food handling or retail industry.

Your learning will be online. You will need access to a computer and the internet. Assessment will take place online and in your workplace. You can enrol whenever you like.
