Personal Care Manufacturing Company with products sold in the domestic and international markets. The company is based in Sunshine Coast and is looking for a Formulation Compounder/Chemist Assistant to join our small technical team in an
innovative and dynamic company.
We are seeking a Compounder/Lab assistant to assist R&D Chemists in lab duties and manufacturing of products for our retail customers.
Ideally, the successful applicant will have experience within the Personal Care industry.

Roles and Responsibilities
 To perform experiments/tests and documenting results
 Packaging, labeling and organizing all samples ready for testing or other purposes as directed
 Ingredient research and documenting of potential new raw materials
 Running the stability program – checking all samples in each incubator every week, taking the pH & viscosity and documenting all results in appropriate spreadsheets.
 Support with the development new formulations for personal care products
 Comprehensive supervised product testing
 Support new product formulation development
 Support in review / upgrade of existing formulations
 Developing and maintaining SOPs for new products and maintaining existing SOP’s
 Have a passion for developing new products

 

The successful applicant will have:
o Background in cosmetics or chemistry/science would be considered.
o Attention to detail and good organisation skills.
o Sound ability to deliver sustainable continuous improvement initiatives;
o Excellent teamwork with ability to work autonomously.
o Ability to think clearly and logically and make decisions under pressure
o Desire to build manufacturing knowledge and capability
o Excellent communication skills both up and down command chain.
o Motivation to learn and to understand the technology that is applicable to the products.
o Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

 

Desirable:

o Diploma of Personal Care Formulation or Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science (IPCS)
o Understanding and application of safety management principles;
o Understanding and application of good manufacturing practice (GMP);
o Understanding and application of quality principles;
o Understanding and application of Lean principles and tools;
o Knowledge of R&D process would be beneficial but not necessary
o Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook);
o experience in laboratory environments

o Practical work experience within an analytical environment with an emphasis on
instrumentation and Wet chemistry.
