With apprenticeships and training being a huge part of our career-ready philosophy, Christy explains how Demi offers a unique program to salon apprentices, who still access our talented team for ongoing learning as they progress their careers.

Tell us about your role at Demi and how you work with apprentices and trainees?
Hi, I’m Christy, the Training Manager across Demi International and Demi Apprentices and Trainers (DAAT). I’ve been with Demi for 5 years. For DAAT, we deliver a hybrid training model that keeps apprentices learning right there in the salon, connected to real clients, real services, and the natural flow of salon life.
For salons and barbershops, this means you’re not losing them for a whole day. You always know exactly what they’re being taught and how they’re progressing. This helps apprentices grow into confident, skilled professionals.
What keeps you and other trainers passionate about supporting these individuals and their salon employers?
Our passion comes from experience. Every trainer on our team has stood exactly where today’s salon owners stand — running a business, managing clients, and trying to give apprentices the right support while keeping the salon moving.
Our trainers don’t just deliver content – they collaborate with salon owners to set expectations, track progress, and ensure every session aligns with the salon’s services and standards. Apprentices feel supported from every angle, and employers gain confidence knowing we’re all working toward the same goal.
The signature bootcamps for hairdressing and barbering have a great reputation! What can someone expect from attending?
Our Signature Bootcamps are intensive, hands-on training experiences designed to fast-track skill development. Every bootcamp session is transparent, relevant, and aligned with the owner’s business needs.
The idea is that for the more technical or advanced units, we bring apprentices together for focused bootcamps that give them the time, space, and support to really master those skills. We focus on genuine collaboration with salons and barbershops, tailoring the training specifically and to upskill quickly.
Do you run the program across all of Queensland and all Demi Campuses?
Yes! You can access trainers from all of our Demi Campus locations. We’re proud to be part of these communities, working side-by-side with local businesses to ensure we deliver real results in thriving businesses.
