What You Can Do With a Diploma of Remedial Massage

Accreditations & Associations

We are an approved registered training provider with four of Australia’s largest Massage Associations. Offering you association membership and Private Health Fund rebates for your clients, once graduated.

What’s the difference between remedial massage and a massage therapist?

‘Massage therapist’ is a general title that covers a range of massage qualifications and specialities. ‘Remedial massage’ is a specific, higher-level discipline focused on assessing, treating and managing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. The HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage is the nationally recognised qualification for this specialisation, and the entry point most private health funds require for client rebates.

How long is the Diploma of Remedial Massage?

Full-time study is 4 x 12-week terms (around 12 months); part-time is 6 x 12-week terms (around 18 months), combining online theory with in-person, hands-on training in our student clinic.

How do I become a remedial massage therapist in Australia?

You’ll need a recognised qualification like the HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage, hands-on clinical experience with real clients, and membership with a professional association such as Massage & Myotherapy Australia to register as a health fund provider. Read more in our step-by-step guide to becoming a remedial massage therapist.

Is remedial massage hard to study?

It combines detailed anatomy and physiology theory with practical assessment and treatment skills, so it’s a genuine commitment – but Demi’s student clinic and small class sizes mean you build those skills gradually with real clients and hands-on trainer support, rather than all at once.

What can I do with a Diploma of Remedial Massage?

Graduates work in physiotherapy and chiropractic clinics, day spas, with sporting teams, or in allied health rehabilitation settings, and the qualification also pathways into further study such as a Bachelor of Health Science, Exercise Science or Occupational Therapy.

The Diploma of Remedial Massage at Demi International is the most well-rounded, engaging and practical courses I have ever had the pleasure of completing. I knew from a young age that I always wanted to complete a massage course, yet I had no idea it was going to be remedial. Not only am I now more knowledgeable on the anatomy of the body and how muscles function, but this course has also given me a range of different techniques to treat a variety of different muscles and conditions. I highly recommend completing this course.

I have always wanted a career in sports medicine I just didn’t know where to start. Demi International helped me to get my foot in the door, by enrolling in the Certificate of Massage therapy that they offer. After falling in love with the concept I progressed and continued on to do the Diploma of Remedial Massage through Demi also. My teacher Seonaid Boyle was encouraging, supportive and always positive throughout my entire journey. I am certain I wouldn’t have found something I love to do as much as Remedial Massage without her help and the Directors of Demi International. If you are wanting to do something fun, active and rewarding I absolutely recommend this course, you will not be disappointed.
