Diploma of Beauty Therapy

The Diploma of Beauty Therapy can be completed in 12 months full-time or 18 months part-time.

This flexible approach allows you to balance your studies with work and personal commitments.

As a full time student, you’ll spend 2 days per week at your chosen campus completing hands-on learning with your trainers. You’ll combine this with approximately 17 hours per week of online study through the learning portal.

As a part time student, you’ll spend 1 day per week at your chosen campus for hands-on learning with your trainers. You’ll combine this with approximately 15 hours per week of online study through the learning portal.

Students must be 15 years and over. We also require basic English language skills and a genuine interest in the beauty industry. If you’re unsure about meeting requirements, our admissions team can discuss your individual circumstances.

Yes! The Diploma of Beauty is open to students from year 10-12 (15 years old and over).

Yes! Depending on your workload, you’ll be in the campus 1 or 2 days per week learning hands-on with real clients.

Beauty therapist’ is the official industry and qualification title used in Australia; it’s what you’ll be recognised as once you complete a nationally recognised qualification like the SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy. ‘Beautician’ is a more general, informal term for someone working in beauty services and isn’t tied to a specific qualification.

There’s no university degree pathway for beauty therapy in Australia. The Diploma of Beauty Therapy (SHB50121) is the highest nationally recognised qualification in the sector, and the industry standard entry point for salons, spas and clinics. From here, you can pathway into further study, including the Diploma of Salon Management (SHB50216) or a related Bachelor degree.
